The new victims of my construction frenzy are the beloved Executioners. The new model has been recieved with mixed reactions. On one hand, a dual kit for Executioners and Black Guards had been many Dark Elf’s wet dream. When the models arrived, people had opinions… on the skulls… on the blades… on their style. Oddly enough, there’s few pictures of other hobbyists on the model, or how they experienced building and painting the models. So let’s see what the new kit delivers for ourselves!
I built my first dark elf hydra, from the new dual kit! This is my first experience with a monster, or any larger model for that matter. It took me two evenings to complete the model, and it have proven to be two very enjoyable evenings. A model worthy of a more detailed review.
Malus Darkblade… an epic, typical Dark Elf character. He is the epitome of the anti hero, that everyone loves and every other story character loves to hate. He is the bleakest of the bleak characters out there. And this is his book!
As the book and legend goes.. Malus Darkblade is somewhat of an underdog in his highborn family and in his quest for more powers… he ends up possessed by a Daemon. You’d almost think it’s cool, until you learn that he leaves a path of blood and destruction in his wake.. not by the daemon’s design, no no, but his own folly in an attempt to be freed from the Daemon.
A little idea popped in my mind, and I bothered to work out the results to muse myself. I recall that 7th was sometimes marked as having good internal balance for many units in the Dark Elf army. “Everything was good – barring a few exceptions”. So I wondered if they wouldn’t try to preserve that internal balance by updating the cost of the units in a linear way.
The title could also have been “wow!”. The new Dark Elf army is out, and it packs a serious amount of changes in models, rules and unit options. It’s a bit early to judge the book’s strength but it looks promising on paper and seems to offer a great diversity. More amusingly, it offers a great choices of themes! Themes!
