This blog entry will be start of a tremendously exciting journey. I have learnt over the last few months that there is such a thing as death by analysis. Specifically, it occurs when one’s time to cogitate far outstrips the time available to actually spend some hobby time. Add some mild OCD into the mix and what you have is a recipe for disaster when it comes to actual hobby progress. Getting involved with a regular gaming group again was a good first step for me to get sufficient motivation to finally make some actual progress. This bloggy thingy provides additional motivation, which brings me to the subject of this post : planning the army.
I’ll share with you an embarrassing moment I had sometime around Christmas last year. I had given in to the urge to start collecting an Imperial Guard army and gotten myself a Leman Russ as a personal christmas present. A few weeks later, Dimetrius added to this by giving me an Earthshaker for my birthday (‘Real men give each other artillery for their birthdays’). However, shortly after assembling these two machines of doom I found myself at a complete loss as to how to paint them. They are VASTLY different to anything I have painted so far and I felt literally too afraid to paint them. Much like a proper Dawi artisan who realises his skill is too inferior to create a masterpiece, I resolved to get better at painting before I tried my hand on painting my ‘Russ and ‘Shaker.
Greetings, loyal readers of this wonderful Furnace of Arcane Delights! My name is Dimetrius, new contributor to this blog.
That Khaine-accursed degenerate spawn of Nagaroth Daeron and that beer-soaked hairy-beyond-reason good for nothing stump of a Dwarf Dourin were gracious enough to offer me a little spot on this blog in order to share my perspective on that loveable pastime we call Warhammer.
A fresh start
There was a terrible disturbance in the warhammer world. It felt like millions of plastic soldiers screaming out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Against many recommendations for other brands, I decided to buy the new citadel paints and paint my army with them.
